Some good news:
- Attendance is > 95% at all schools thus far
- Professional academic-related training: Conference travel to a National Science Teacher’s Association conference and travel to DoDEA Grant Program Professional Learning Meeting in conjunction / support of DoDEA Project SAIL grant (i.e., goals are raising the percentage of military-connected students who meet or exceed standards on state tests, increased enrollment in CTE and STEM elective courses, etc.).
- Silver Strand Elementary on CAASSP testing achieved markedly higher scores; 12% more students met standards in Math and 6% more in ELA than Village Elementary
Some bad news:
- High staff turnover
- CAASSP scores: 48% / 14% of CHS students did not meet standards in Math / ELA, respectively, 39% / 26% of CMS students did not meet standards in Math / ELA, respectively, 29% / 27% of Village students did not meet standards in Math / ELA, respectively
- All in on NCUST and Portrait of a Student, so expect more unnecessary time and energy away from objective measures of achievement
- The definition of tone deaf: “We are very proud to report that CUSD maintained the #1 ranking for unified school districts in San Diego in English Language Arts (#2 in Math and #3 in Science). You can watch Dr. Battle’s full report HERE.” Superintendent
