The Superintendent, Oct 18 in his weekly newsletter announced, “We are very proud to report that CUSD maintained the #1 ranking for unified school districts in San Diego in English Language Arts (#2 in Math and #3 in Science).”
In a state that ranks #1 for the most non-English speakers and #1 for the lowest percentage of high school diploma holders, it might be sound for the Superintendent to continue to brag about CUSD performing so well on California Assessment tests. After all, CUSD on average only has 25% of students that do not meet standards in English, 35% in Math, and 48% in Science.
Nonetheless, Trustees, are you proud? Teachers are you proud? Parents are you proud? While the Administration and Board of Trustees spend $100,000 creating their 25-year vision for a Portrait of a Graduate, your students are “graduating” as Portraits of Mediocrity.
