All board members wearing masks, public not permitted to be in attendance.
In section 4.7, all board members vote to approve BP 0415.
An incredible conversation takes place on the heels of Mrs. Foley’s presentation during Video section 7.4, when EVC asks how are you going to ensure diversity of the Equity Committee; she tries to get Foley to see that saying that it will be based on parent’s interest level could result in 99% whites. She wants the committee to discriminate based on race, blacks, latino (race?), asian, etc. Pontes agrees with her, need to have criteria. Mueller says CUSD will “target parents and students” that have been very vocal about bringing information to us. They will use PTO to select and bring forward parents.
You can imagine next they will be trying to figure out how to hire teachers, staff, and administrators based on race in direct contravention of the 1964 Civil Rights Act and Equal Opportunity Policies.
A very dramatic moment that highlights how corrosive Equity is.
To EVC credit: She also said that diversity consultant advised the Board, September 10, from SDCOE; “what typically happens with diversity consultants is it is all based on Critical Race Theory.”
Simon and Russell does not support hiring diversity consultant at this time.
Pontes leaves door open to hiring a diversity consultant; wait on Equity Committee input.
Cruz-Anderson not against diversity consultant. Feels representation of Equity Committee should reflect all community that feels marginalized.
