Not the full transcript:
Mr. Shepherd, “why are you the best candidate for this position?” I also have demonstrated during the time that I was on the board that I can help achieve results and accomplishments in a collegial manner so that would be my goal.
“What are your views and equity and inclusion in public education?” I love public education. And I was glad because I learned a lot more about the importance of public education and how important public education is for giving equal opportunity and creating studetns who can grab equal opportunity…So I, think public education and equity and the treatment of all in a fair and equal manner is part and parcel of everything we do.
“Please share your perspective on mandates related to the pandemic?” I saw the superintendence article in the eagle last week and I thought he hit it on the mark perfectly. We live in a system of government where there’s different levels of the authority and we should respect those levels of authority. We have responsibility to implement within those levels of authority. If there are mandates from the State we should respect them.
“Where is the constraints of current funding facing our school district?” If I am appointed and I’m not gonna run for reelection, if I’m appointed it’s only for the fall. Part of my thinking on that has been that people in this community should have a right to go forward and pick representatives they are going to be without having…With all due respect to the four of you, having the four of you get a power of incumbency, so I am not gonna run in the fall but I am hopeful that during the time if I’m appointed that I work with you all then we can really focus on these finances because Basic Aid is an opportunity
